Helmut began his career as a commercial pilot, flying charters around the Australian continent. Studying Aerospace Engineering allowed him to utilise and conflate his engineering and flying skills whilst gaining a valuable insight into both mechanics and structures. In completing his degree in Psychology simultaneously, Helmut achieved a vital understanding of human processes in relation to engineering. He achieved an exceptional 1st Class Honours in this double degree. Furthermore, his quest for knowledge continues as he researches design processes for a PhD, scheduled for completion in 2006.

It is his clear understanding of engineering, and the human processes behind it, that has seen Helmut advance rapidly in the world of engineering. Joining HMIDE upon its foundation in 1986 and applying all of his skills, he quickly became a Principal Engineer with the company.

Today, Helmut is the company's Executive Director, handling all commercial and statutory issues. He is passionate about ongoing progress and development and is focused on the contribution this makes towards the success of the customer. His primary aim is to provide a high level of design and technical consulting services directly to the customer.

With his expertise in design, structural integrity, fatigue, risk and reliability, design research and comissioning, as well as strong vision and commercial skills, Helmut can make a broad and valuable contribution to your bulk handling plans.
