Helmut Mayer
Managing Director
Qualifications - B.E.-Aerospace (Hons 1) B.SC.–Psyc UNSW, FIEAust, 
Registered RPEQ 6516, CPEng, (PhD completed)
Under Helmut's direction, and with his expertise in design, structural integrity, fatigue, risk and reliability, as well as strong vision and commercial skills, Mayer Bulk can make a broad and valuable contribution to developing your bulk materials handling solutions.
After beginning his career as a commercial pilot, Helmut studied aerospace engineering, obtaining 1st Class Honours, while simultaneously completing a degree in psychology. With these diverse early activities and studies, he not only gained valuable insight into mechanics and structures, but also into the human processes that drive engineering and allow abstract ideas to eventually be created into reality.
Helmut, together with Christof has bee involved with the company since it foundation in 1986. Applying their diverse skills both quickly rose to become the company’s Principal Engineers. Today, as the company’s Managing Director Helmut is responsible for all commercial, engineering and statutory issues, he is passionate about Mayer Bulk’s ongoing progress and development. His primary aim is to ensure the company delivers the highest level of design, management and other professional services to you, our clients.

Sandhya Singh
Engineering Manager
Qualifications - B.E.-Civil MIEAust
Sandhya graduated in 1992 and started her career working as a Management Trainee with Projects & Development India Limited, a consultancy organization providing engineering services for setting up of gas based fertilizer plants and oil refineries. She was involved in the design of pipe racks, 15000 MT capacity LPG tank foundations, reinforced concrete chimneys, process water tanks and other heavy industrial steel structures.
Sandhya immigrated to Australia in 2004 and started working with Mayer International Design Engineers Ltd in the capacity of senior structural engineer. She was involved in concept & detailed design of various stockyard equipment. She also carried out design audits of machines for compliance to AS4324.1-1995.
Significant recent projects include:
- Design of 1700 TPH capacity primary & secondary stackers for coal handling & preparation plant (CHPP) for Xstrata Mangoola project.
- Design of 3300 TPH linear stacker for Prodeco Calenturitas Mine site, Colombia. This included design of stacker rail beam footings.
- Design audit of a 2000 TPH salt ship loader for Useless Port upgrade project, Sharkbay Resources, WA.
- Concept design of 3500 TPH & 2500 TPH capacity raw coal & product coal stacker for CHPP Xstrata Ravensworth North project.
- Structural integrity inspection of coking coal stacker for Curragh Queensland Mining Ltd.
Between 2007 & 2009 Sandhya worked as a senior structural engineer with Worley Parsons, where she was involved in the design of mill buildings, elevated conveyor gantries, flotation cell support structures, transfer towers etc.
With extensive experience in design of stockyard equipments and heavy industrial area, Sandhya intends to strengthen Mayer Bulk's capabilities in these areas.
Rakesh Patel
Senior Project Engineer
Qualifications - B.E.-Mech MEngPrac
Rakesh completed his Bachelor of Engineering degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat University, India. Rakesh went on to complete his Master of Engineering Practice in Mechanical degree from Wollongong University, NSW, AUSTRALIA in 2005.
After finishing his Bachelor's degree, Rakesh joined a Design and Manufacturing Engineering company in India, focusing on Bulk Materials Handling equipment. Examples of machines that he helped design have included Crushing Plants, Conveyors, Concrete Mixers, and other Construction equipments. Furthermore, Rakesh has also been involved in the project management of two crushing plants in India.
Upon moving to Australia in 2004, Rakesh joined MAYER to utilise his skills and knowledge within the Bulk Materials Handling field. Rakesh is heavily involved in plant design, plant layout and task management within a project team. Bulk materials handling machines that Rakesh has helped design have included Ship Loaders and Stackers. Rakesh has worked in a design and project team and contributed significantly in below listed projects,
- Ship Loader No.3 & Upgrade of No. 1 & 2 – Gladstone Port, Queensland – 6000 TPH machine
- Sharkbay Ship Loader – 2000 TPH machine
- Mangoola Stackers – 2 x 1600 TPH machines
- Structural and Mechanical inspection of Barney point twin boom stacker
In 2011-2012 Rakesh worked with in FLSmidth before returning to Mayer Bulk. At FLSmidth Rakesh successfully completed below listed project while working as a Project Engineer.
- 2 x 25m diameter thickener tank for a BMA Coal, QLD, Australia
- 2 x Cone Crusher and 1 x Gyratory Crusher for Anglo Gold Ashanti, WA, Australia
- 1 x Cone Crusher for a Hidden Valley, PNG
Currently, Rakesh works in the capacity of a Senior Project Engineer at Mayer Bulk. In this role, he utilises his technical engineering skills and project management. With his broad experience in the material handling equipment, Rakesh makes a significant contribution to the Mayer Bulk team.
